Each student to receive online tutoring will have their own account with their own login details. We'll link these student accounts to appropriate tutors, according to their tutoring requirements. Students can then message their tutors and attend online lessons in the Tutor Room. As the school, you can monitor the activity of your students on the platform, including their messages with tutors and the online lessons they attend.
Adding students
You can add students to your account yourself, one at a time (My account > My students > Add student). Alternatively, you can provide a list of students to our administrators who can upload them in bulk for you, all at once (please send a spreadsheet with the column headers below).
Required details for each student:
- First name
- Last name (or initial)
- Username
- Password
Usernames can be an email address (e.g. student@school.co.uk), a name (e.g. johnw) or any anonymous phrase or code (e.g. yellow123, or 8476pc etc). They must be unique for each student. If an email address is used then an email notification will be sent whenever the student receives a new message on the platform. If an email address is used it will never be visible to the tutor.
Passwords should be at at least 6 characters and should ideally be unique for each student, for enhanced account privacy and security.
Once students have been added to your account, you'll need distribute their login details (username and password) to each of them. Note: Once students login they are able to change their username and password, if required.
Managing student accounts
Change login details: You can change a student's username (or email address) or password any time (My students >
Options > Update details). Students are also able to change their username or password themselves by logging in to their account.
If a student's account was setup using an email address they can reset their password themselves anytime via the login page, otherwise you will have to reset if for them from your school account.
Login as student: From your school account you can login to a specific student's account without their username or password (My students > Login as student). This will log you out of your school account and instantly log you into the student's account. This is useful if you wish to login on a student's behalf so they can then attend a lesson.
Switch account: You can switch to a specific student's account (My account > Switch account) which will allow you to see the platform as that student does. However, you will still be logged in as the school and can switch back to your school account, or switch to another student's account, any time. This is useful if you want to switch from one account to another without logging in and out.
Message student: You can send a student a message on the platform if desired. (My students >
Options > Message student). You can also
attach files if required. If you have already exchanged messages with a student you can view them in your inbox (My account > Messages).
Change names: To change student names, please contact us.
Delete student: To delete a student account, please contact us.
Viewing student messages
Once students have been added to your account and we've linked them to a tutor, they'll be able to exchange messages and files with that tutor. As the school, you have full transparency over all messages and files exchanged between your students and our tutors.
To view all messages: My account > Their messages.
To view messages between a specific student and tutor: My account > Their tuition > View messages.
